Anytime I attend a Fuquay Varina arts event, I look forward to seeing the infectious smile of Pinkie Strother. She has a Masters in Art and served as a middle schools arts teacher in Columbia, MD for 35 years. Even though she retired from teaching, Pinkie has never retired from art. She is a woman on the move!
She served as President of Fuquay Varina’s Arts Council until recently. Now she is one of 38 artist selected from a pool of 1,300 that attended an one month residency hosted by Omi International Arts Center in Ghent, New York earlier this year. Pinkie was actually only one of five that represented the United States. The opportunity gave her art more exposure and gave her more appreciation for various cultures and techniques.
With a new international arts agent, we are bound to see even more of her great smile and works. I can’t wait! For more information about Pinkie, visit www.pinkiesart.com.
